Trick Dog: Where Training Meets Play
Remember teaching your dog to shake paws or roll over as a kid? That's where many professional trainers—including us—discovered our passion for working with dogs. Those early moments of connection and accomplishment sparked a lifelong love of training.

Fun for the Whole Family
Trick Dog isn't just entertaining—it's a recognized dog sport that strengthens the bond between you and your pup while building confidence, focus, and skills. Best of all, it's designed to be family-friendly, welcoming handlers ages 8 and up to actively participate (younger children are welcome to observe).
Important for families: Parents or guardians of children attending any Mystic Paws Academy class must complete our Canine Communication Workshop first. This ensures everyone's safety and success.

A Letter from Your Trainer: Why Trick Training Matters

Dear Families,
I started teaching my first dog, Ginger, tricks when I was just a little girl. Those training sessions became precious bonding moments—not just with my dog, but with my mom too. By age six, I was competing in Ken-L Ration trick shows, and at seven, I won my first Best of Tricks title.
That childhood passion shaped my life. When Kyra Sundance founded Do More With Your Dog, I immediately pursued certification. Today, I'm certified in Trick Dog, Stunt Dog, and Canine Conditioning.

More Than Just Fun
Never underestimate the power of trick training in a child's development. Through working with their dogs, children:
-
Build confidence and self-esteem
-
Learn to adapt and overcome obstacles
-
Exercise creativity and think outside the box
-
Practice cooperation and patience
These aren't just dog training skills—they're life skills.

I highly recommend that kids and parents take at least one Trick Dog class together. Let's create the same magic for your family that trick training created for mine.
Important: Parents or guardians must complete our Canine Communication Seminar before children can participate. (I encourage kids to watch it too!)
With warmth and wagging tails,
Heather Pohlman
Certified Trick Dog, Stunt Dog & Canine Conditioning Instructor
