Trick Dog Classes
Teaching tricks is how many of us trainers actually got started--when we were children we taught our dogs tricks, and the love of training and bonding with dog stuck! Today, not only is trick dog a fun sport, but it's family friendly. With two main governing bodies, Do More With Your Dog, and AKC, we can teach and test for both sets of titles if desired. We teach multiple trick dog classes, from beginner to advanced, and we welcome children 8 and over to participate (younger children are welcome to watch). Please note, parents or guardians of any children wanting to attend classes at MPA must attend the Canine Communication workshop first.

You must be evaluated for this class at this time. Please call the center at 779-994-4200 to discuss evaluation. Only dogs who have already had some training can enter this class.
A word from Heather...
I started teaching my first dog, Ginger, tricks when I was old enough to pay attention and follow rules. It was a great bonding time for me and my dog, but also me and my mom. I started showing tricks in Ken-L Ration shows when I was six, and won my first Best of Tricks when I was 7. I jumped on certifying as a Trick Dog Instructor when Kyra Sundance started Do More With Your Dog, and I'm certified in Trick Dog, Stunt Dog, and Canine Conditioning. Don't underestimate the power that training tricks has in a child's development, as it helps them build confidence, build on skills, learn to adapt and overcome obstacles, be creative, and often think out of the box. It also teaches cooperation with others! I highly recommend kids and their parents taking at least one trick dog class so that children can really have fun training! Remember, if children are participating in any classes, the parents or guardians must have attended the Canine Communication seminar first!
