More Than Dog Training — It’s Understanding
About Us

How Mystic Paws Academy Began
Mystic Paws Academy was founded by Heather Pohlman with one simple goal: make dog training clear, positive, and practical for everyday families.
From a young age, Heather was immersed in the world of dogs, beginning dog shows as a child and earning accolations early on. Over time, she discovered that obedience alone didn’t solve most problems — misunderstanding did.
Many behavior issues come from confusion between dogs and owners. When people learn how dogs think, communicate, and learn, frustration disappears and cooperation naturally takes its place.
Mystic Paws Academy was built to teach those skills, giving owners the knowledge and confidence to guide their dogs through every stage of life.
Our Story
"The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle."
Steve Jobs
Trust Us
Training Should Strengthen the Relationship
We believe dogs learn best through engagement, play, and clear communication — not intimidation or force.
Instead of training only during class time, we show you how to use normal daily activities as training opportunities. This makes results faster, longer-lasting, and easier to maintain.
Our training focuses on:
Teaching owners how dogs learn
Preventing unwanted behaviors
Building calm behavior naturally
Creating reliability without fear
