Greetings, Heather here! Let me start with a story. Years ago, my husband and I were fostering for a rescue. Our fifth foster came along, and it was instant love. This poor baby was found at about 5 weeks of age with her siblings zipped up in a duffel bag on the side of the highway in Missouri. They had sarcoptic mange, and spent 7 weeks in isolation. She came to us at 12 weeks of age, sickly, and ravaged by the mange and the treatment. We couldn't let her go. Unfortunately, she developed rabies vaccinosis, a potentially harmful (and deadly) reaction to the rabies vaccine. She was also MDR1 positive. But Trinity was silly, and goofy, and a comedien. She stole everyone's hearts. But, as a trainer, I wasn't able to really take her places, no matter how much she loved to go, or how hard she would work, because she wasn't allowed to get a rabies shot, and the side effects of her disease were sometimes very hard to deal with. She had a complete lack of impulse control, seizures, and a variety of other problems. Sadly, we only had her about 6 years when the disease took it's toll. We had to let her go, and she took a part of all of our hearts with her.

I tell you this to not make you sad, but to make you understand my passion for the rescue community. I'm excited to announce our shelter and rescue program below.

Rescues

MPA Shelter & Rescue Program

Our program has a 3-pronged approach.

Support for Shelters

Educate your shelter staff on canine communication, neuropsychology, behaviorism, and enrichment.

Support for Fosters

Help foster families through education and training to understand how to protect resident animals, enrich the foster dog's life, and help it become more adoptable.

Support for Adopters

Bring understanding to adoptive families about typical rescue needs and behavior, help build the dog's confidence, and prevent rehoming.

Through a partnership with MPA, we highlight the incredible work of our trusted shelter and rescue partners, helping you expand your reach and increase successful adoptions. We also organize donation drives throughout the year to support organizations when they need it most.

In addition, shelters and rescues that recommend our training programs to their adopters receive exclusive benefits. Adopters get a discount on their first training class, and for every class they take after that, we donate 10% back to your organization at the end of the year.

If your shelter or rescue would like to speak to someone about partnering with us, please call us at 779-994-4200 today.
